HKIMO 簡介

​            國際數學奧林匹克（IMO）是世界性的高中生數學比賽，每年於不同國家或地區舉行。首屆IMO 於 1959 年在羅馬尼亞舉行,共有 7 個東歐國家參賽。歷年來,賽事逐漸成為一項重要國際盛事，吸引超過 100 個國家及地區參加。香港國際數學競賽由一群熱心數學奧林匹克的教育者發起，由前香港代表隊隊長帶領，為一個國際性的數學競賽，希望從小選拔香港 IMO 精英，為港爭光！

           一般數學奧林匹克比賽對象為 0.1%最頂尖學生，而 HKIMO 則為所有數學愛好者提供一個公平的切磋平台,因為 HKIMO 並非一般數學奧林匹克競賽,其測試範圍涵蓋各大數學範疇,包括：邏輯思維、算術或代數、數論、幾何及組合學，共 5 個部份。它旨在激發學生的學習興趣和熱情，培養數學直覺推理和邏輯思辨能力，以及創意和批判性思維。

HKIMO Background

            The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is a mathematical olympiad for pre-college students, and is the oldest of the International Science Olympiads. The first IMO was held in Romania in 1959. It has since been held annually, except in 1980. More than 100 countries, representing over 90% of the world's population, send teams of up to six students, plus one team leader, one deputy leader, and observers. Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad, HKIMO, which is formed by a group of enthusiastic Mathematics lovers, is managed by former Team Hong Kong Team Leaders to select potential children to seize the reputation for Hong Kong.

         Major Mathematical Olympiad competitions only focus 0.1% of elite Mathematics students. HKIMO provides a Mathematics platform for ALL students with strong interests in Mathematics to participate. Different from other Mathematical Olympiad competition, the examination consists of standardized topics such as Logical Thinking, Arithmetic / Algebra, Number Theory, Geometry and Combinatorics. To stimulate and foster young people’s interest in learning mathematics, to strengthen the ability of their creative thinking, to widen their international perspective, and to promote the development of kindergarten, primary and secondary education and exchange of educational cultures throughout countries.
